Guests are encouraged to ride the Carrousel as many times as they like during the event\, with the requirement to exit and rejoin the line after each ride. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is open to all\, with a particular focus on extending a warm welcome to children with disabilities and their families. We’ve selected Looff Carrousel as our venue in honor of what would have been Rosalie’s sixth birthday\, as it was one of her cherished places to visit. The Rosalie Murrey Memorial Foundation is dedicated to offering enriching and inclusive early childhood learning experiences for children with disabilities. Community members\, young and old\, are encouraged to join in the many opportunities to experience and celebrate Native American culture.    \nThe highlight of the Expo ’74 Tribal Pillar events is a Pow-Wow at the Spokane Convention Center on May 25-26. DESCRIPTION:Innovia is excited to sponsor the 27th season of the Browne’s Addition Summer Concerts\, featuring some of Spokane’s most popular bands\, alongside award-winning groups from across the region and nation! Family-friendly\, free and open to all\, the concert series kicks off on June 20\, 2024 at Spokane’s oldest park\, Coeur d’Alene Park\, located in the heart of the historic Browne’s Addition neighborhood. \nProduced by the Browne’s Addition Neighborhood Council\, concerts will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday until August 15\, with no performance scheduled for July 4. \nJune 20: Mardi Gras Growlers\, a six-person band synonymous with good-time\, feel-good New Orleans music. The Lady Growler is Abbey Crawford\, an award-winning vocalist and local actress for over 20 years. \nJune 27: Time Baby\, an eclectic jazz fusion group of established local musicians and one of three winners of the Spokane Public Radio’s Firehouse Sessions contest. They prioritize the art of creating and performing original music.   \nJuly 11: Villa Blues ’N Jazz. Local noted vocalist Heather Villa brought together four Spokane jazz musicians to form this Jazz and Blues group playing music influences of the group\, including Bessie Smith\, Billie Holiday\, Ella Fitzgerald\, John Lee Hooker\, BB King and Stevie Wonder.  \nJuly 18: Free Whiskey\, a Celtic folk rock band\, will play traditional with a twist. Vintage rock and Celtic ballads are intertwined and mesh together as the six members “make magic” together.  \nJuly 25: Soul Proprietor\, a high-energy\, 10-piece “Urban Soul” group playing Blues\, Funk\, Motown\, R&B and Classic Rock. It features outstanding vocalists Patrice Thompson-Rose and Jerry Lee Raines\, a stellar 4-piece horn section\, and a super-funky rhythm section.  \nAugust 1: Front Porch Rockers will bring songs from a range of styles\, including the roots of folk\, Tin Pan Alley\, rock ‘n roll\, American Songbook\, Blues and much more. The music makers include musicians who have entertained Spokane audiences for many years in many different bands.  \nAugust 8: Lucky Losers\, winners of five Independent Blues Awards in 2021 and San Francisco’s number one touring band will play as part of their Pacific Northwest tour. Their music is a throwback to the hybrid of soul\, blues\, rock\, gospel\, and country that emerged in the late 1960s.  \nAugust 15: Nu Jack City will wrap up the season playing Motown\, rhythm and blues as well as current popular tunes. The seven-piece ensemble has been playing for 20 years and bills itself as a high-energy party band fronted by Monee Hamm and Maxwell.

Ferris Research Archives at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture/Eastern Washington State Historical Society (L97-56.176). \nOur Stories: Black Families in Spokane will be a celebration of community and history at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (the MAC) on June 28\, 2024\, 11am-4pm. As part of our year-long\, 50th Anniversary celebration\, Innovia Foundation is proud to announce a partnership with the MAC to provide free entry for all to the event. \nThe first in the Our Stories series at the MAC\, the event will provide a full day of immersive activities celebrating the stories that have shaped Spokane’s Black community and heritage. Activities include Motown music outside on the museum lawn\, documentaries and youth-created films in the auditorium and a drop-in art workshop for the whole family. \nHighlights of the June 28 event include:   \n\nLiving descendants of Spokane Black pioneers and dignitaries sharing memories and memorabilia from their families\, African American-owned businesses and organizations   \nDocumentaries on Black persons from Spokane’s past and new content produced by New Developed Nations (NDN) and youth representatives of NDN\, the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center\, Carl Maxey Center\, and NAACP  \nA basketball shootaround with some of Spokane’s stars\, including former and current college players and high school players  \nAfrican American children’s book story time and crafts   \nFood trucks and a DJ
