Innovia joins #GivingTuesdayNow efforts: May 5, 2020

Posted on April 16, 2020

COVID-19 can’t cancel community. Or generosity. Or good.
Please join us on Tuesday, May 5, for #GivingTuesdayNow.

Innovia Foundation has joined the network of #GivingTuesday campaign leaders to address the devastating impacts of COVID-19 in our region. We are partnering with GivingTuesday National for #GivingTuesdayNow on Tuesday, May 5, a global day of giving and unity in response to the unprecedented need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your generosity matters now more than ever. Working together, we can help one another, particularly our neighbors in need and our most vulnerable populations. Innovia’s mission is to ignite generosity that transforms lives and communities. How urgent this mission seems, in light of the events in our society this past month. At Innovia Foundation, we’ve seen our community’s spirit of generosity in action, and know we can create transformative impact when we give together.

There are tangible ways you can join us on #GivingTuesdayNow:

Supporting a COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund
With your help, together we can ease the financial burden our nonprofit and community partners will experience because of this pandemic. In partnership with Empire Health Foundation and Spokane County United Way in Eastern Washington and Equinox Foundation, Avista Foundation and Lewis-Clark Healthcare Foundation in North Idaho, Innovia Foundation launched two COVID-19 Response and Recovery Funds for our region that has granted out over $750,000 to organizations serving on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Supporting our hospitality and gig-economy workers
Our region has two organizations serving the industries hit hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic: hospitality and gig economy workers. Big Table in Eastern Washington and CDAIDE in North Idaho are established community-based nonprofits that serve the hospitality industry. This vulnerable population is facing an unprecedented financial obstacle as overnight their hours simply disappeared as restaurants and hotels closed to limit the virus spread. Most have no way to make up these lost wages and they live day-to-day without a safety net.

Even before this national crisis, restaurants and hotels already had the highest concentration of those most in need in the country. The economic impact of this crisis on top of their day-to-day vulnerability is catastrophic.

You can support by giving directly to Big Table or CDAIDE or by donating to newly established pass-through funds at Innovia Foundation. By giving through Innovia, our staff will assume the administrative burden of processing gifts, acknowledging donors and providing receipts to allow the organizations to do what they do best: deploy resources to help stabilize individuals and families.
