On September 7, the Babb Fire swept across Whitman County. An estimated 80% of homes in Malden and nearly 75% of homes in Pine City were lost. As residents continue to rebuild from this tragedy, Innovia Foundation is excited to announce the launch of A Pine Creek Christmas: Celebrating Malden and Pine City to provide a brighter Christmas to the families of Malden and Pine City affected by the destructive September wildfires.
Innovia Foundation is seeking generous individuals, families, and corporations to partner with us to bring Christmas to the Pine Creek area by fulfilling wish lists of community members displaced by the wildfires. Gifts must be purchased and delivered to our office in Downtown Spokane by December 17. Innovia staff and volunteers will deliver gifts to families in Malden just in time for some Christmas cheer.
Those interested in supporting A Pine Creek Christmas but are unable to shop can make a cash contribution that will be used to purchase gifts and a holiday meal for families affected by the wildfires. Any remaining funds after the event will be transferred to long-term community restoration (site cleanup, new housing, community rebuilding and revitalization).
Due to the overwhelming support from the community, we have connected all of the families in need with family sponsors. We are now expanding the giving to include gift cards for Christmas dinners and gift baskets for families. We’d love to have you be part of that spirit of Christmas for these families by giving in one of the following ways:
