In communities across Idaho, more than half a million residents live without internet connectivity. Access to crucial services like telemedicine, mental telehealth, learning from home and economic opportunities are disproportionately limited for individuals in rural areas.
To meet this urgent need, Imagine Idaho was launched in 2020 as a nonprofit organization to “light up” rural Idaho by empowering local leaders to secure internet access and spur community and economic prosperity.
With the help of a $20,000 grant from Innovia, Imagine Idaho has launched Partner Projects in Benewah, Shoshone and Latah Counties, with coalitions of leaders already convening to leverage federal and state funding to implement broadband infrastructure into their own communities.
“We serve as a catalyst and connector for elected officials, department of commerce, education, healthcare, libraries, businesses and nonprofits to serve communities in Idaho,” said Christina Culver, Project Team Lead and Board member of Imagine Idaho. “This work will raise all Idahoans.”
