L’Arche Spokane Endowment Fund
Founded in 1964 in France, L’Arche is an international federation devoted to creating and sponsoring homes, support networks and other programs for people with intellectual disabilities. L’Arche came to Spokane in 1976 when Sister Mary Hurley invited two men with intellectual disabilities to live in the vacant convent at St. Paschal’s Church. By 1982, the community had grown to 12 men, and they had a farm and wood shop. In 1986, the community became an official member of L’Arche.
Today, L’Arche Spokane maintains two houses in the Logan Neighborhood for both men and women. In 2017, L’Arche established an endowment fund at Innovia Foundation to give donors another option for supporting their work. This endowment fund will generate sustainable revenue for years to come, supporting the organization’s mission of providing permanent, loving homes and community living programs for adults with intellectual disabilities.
