Pilot’s memorial fund provides scholarships for women studying math or science

Richard and Anita Molstead established an endowed fund at Innovia in memory of their son Eric, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 43. Eric, a 1980 graduate of Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Washington, died shortly after returning from his 25-year class reunion. An avid and accomplished pilot, Eric’s death was the result of a carbon monoxide leak in the plane he flew to the reunion.

The Eric Molstead Memorial Fund supports young women attending Upper Columbia Academy who are interested in pursuing a career in math or science, and is renewable for up to four years.

“We are pleased to partner with Innovia Foundation in creating a meaningful scholarship fund in memory of our son, Eric,” says Richard Molstead. “It is our family’s hope and desire that this scholarship fund will encourage some young women at Upper Columbia Academy to pursue careers in math and science. The support Innovia provides will be important in achieving this goal.”
