The Ray & Joan Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene adheres to the mission of founder Joan Kroc. She entrusted The Salvation Army with $90 million to build the first Kroc Center in San Diego in 2002, and there are now 26 centers across the country built on her eventual $1.5 billion investment. Joan envisioned that the centers would “ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to grow their natural gifts and talents.”
The Kroc Center received a $15,000 grant from Innovia Foundation as flexible funding to address community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. While their offerings are adjusted due to the crisis, they are continuing to offer recreational opportunities and supportive programs to aid the community, including virtual exercise classes.
A testament to the generosity of both Joan Kroc and the many community members who have donated, the Kroc Center is striving to create a safe place for families to belong and grow, even during these challenging times.
