LEADERSHIP TRANSITION: HOW TO GET READY FOR A CHANGE IN PEOPLE
Leadership transitions are inevitable—and pivotal moments in the life of a nonprofit. Whether your organization is planning for a known departure, navigating unexpected change, or simply working to be ready for the future, this session will help you approach leadership transitions with greater confidence and clarity.
Together we will explore the full lifecycle of leadership change—from preparation and succession planning to hiring, onboarding, and supporting a new leader. Along the way, we’ll examine organizational readiness, culture, communication, politics and power, and equity, with a focus on what leaders and boards need to be paying attention to at each stage.
You’ll leave with practical tools and a clear roadmap to support a thoughtful, values-aligned transition—one that strengthens the organization and supports staff, board members, and the broader community through change.
This interactive session is ideal for board members, executive leaders, HR staff, and others involved in preparing for or managing leadership transitions.
