Innovia Foundation Celebrates Community at Teweepuu Community Center Indian Taco Feed
Spokane, WA, August 23, 2024 – Each year, the Nez Perce Tribe Teweepuu Community Center in Orofino, Idaho hosts an Indian Taco Feed, bringing together families and seniors of the community to share a special meal. The event also raises funds to provide free youth entry to the town’s beloved fair, Orofino Lumberjack Days.
This year’s Indian Taco Feed will take place on Friday, August 30 from 4-6 p.m. at Orofino City Park. Guests will enjoy a free meal, with the option of donating towards free fair entry wristbands for the youth that attend the Teweepuu Community Center.
“The Indian Taco Feed is a cherished tradition in Orofino. As a community, we look forward to this opportunity to spend quality time connecting with one another, while contributing toward an enriching experience at the fair for our youth,” says Teweepuu Community Center Coordinator Alexis N. Coomer.
The meal, along with its goal of making the upcoming fair accessible, makes the Indian Taco Feed an important catalyst for community engagement in Orofino. In addition to volunteering for the Indian Taco Feed, local youth spend the preceding weeks creating a float that will appear in the Lumberjack Days parade.
“Gathering together to enjoy a meal is a powerful way to foster relationships” says Shelly O’Quinn, CEO of Innovia Foundation. “Innovia is proud to sponsor an event promoting community involvement, while supporting youth to attend and participate in community festivities at Orofino Lumberjack Days.
Innovia Foundation’s investment in the Teweepuu Community Center Indian Taco Feed is part of a series of events and activities Innovia is gifting to communities across Eastern Washington and North Idaho in celebration of the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary in 2024.
