Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary Post 8311 provides meals to vulnerable residents through COVID-19 Response and Recovery Grant

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Women’s Auxiliary Post 8311 received a $2,500 COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund grant to assist them in meeting an increased need for food and home deliveries for senior, disabled, home-bound and low-income citizens within a 100-mile radius of Elk City, Idaho.

As a result of this arrangement, not only were we able to provide for our residents in need, but helped our local businesses as well.  The restaurants and the general store greatly reduced their prices for meals and groceries, which allowed us to provide for more people for a longer period of time,” said Sharon McKee, the president of VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

A grant from the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund has provided meals and grocery deliveries to twenty-one households for the month of May, ensuring that vulnerable residents of this community wouldn’t go hungry during a time of increased danger and food insecurity.

Our recipients were a wide range, including families recently unemployed, people with health issues, veterans and the elderly.  Everyone was extremely appreciative and impressed that you had thought to help us during this time of need… It helped not only by providing food and meals, but boosted our morale as well,” said McKee.

“We cannot thank Innovia Foundation enough for your generous donation to our community,” said McKee.
