Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County Buys Northtown Property from Innovia Foundation
SPOKANE, WA, March 12, 2021 — Innovia Foundation announced today that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County has purchased the Northtown Boys & Girls Clubs property that was previously held by the BGC Supporting Organization, a separate 501(c)(3) organization at Innovia.
The Northtown Boys & Girls Clubs property located on East Providence is the home of Northtown Club. In 2015, a generous gift from anonymous donors established the BGC Supporting Organization for the purpose of purchasing and holding the Northtown property until the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County was able to purchase the property. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County has paid a modest rent to Innovia to occupy and operate programs at the multi-purpose facility since 2015. Prior to 2015, the Northtown Boys & Girls Club had leased that site from St. Francis Xavier parish. In March 2021, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County made an initial $50,000 payment to purchase the building and developed plans to raise an additional $206,000 to pay its mortgage in full within the next two years.
As one of the leading youth development organizations in the community, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County helps thousands of young people each year, ages 6-18, find their path, find their voice and find their passions.
“The generosity of the anonymous donors, together with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County’s perseverance to raise funds to purchase the building, ensures the children of northeast Spokane have access to a great multi-use facility for years to come,” said Shelly O’Quinn, CEO, Innovia Foundation. “Additionally, funds from the sale of the building will be permanently endowed and redistributed to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County, year after year.”
