Favored Few Support Crew Fund member Charlie Duranona already had an intended target to receive some of the $20,000 from the owner of No-Li Brewery before the money could even be deposited.
“The food pantry,” Charlie declared excitedly. A food pantry recently was established at Fairchild Air Force Base (FAFB) in the effort to assist financially struggling service members. However, food donations and financial contributions to the pantry have proved slow thus far.
Charlie, an Honorary Commander at Fairchild, says he will recommend to his fellow commanders that they place between $4,000 to $5,000 into the pantry account to buy food and other supplies. He anticipates the remainder of the money will be placed into the Favored Support Crew Fund which is held by Innovia Foundation.

John Bryant owns No-Li Brewery located at 1003 E. Trent Ave. in Spokane’s historic Riverwalk Building just east of the Gonzaga University campus. John’s master brewer, Ty Lindquist is good friends with Charlie. Earlier this year, Ty told John about Charlie and several other retired veterans in the region whose desire it is to establish an endowed fund for active service personnel.
Neither Bryant nor Lindquist were active service members, but each said they have deep admiration and respect for service men and women.
The contribution comes at an ideal time, too. Meagan Prescott, a first sergeant senior leader advisor at FAFB, said August is a high travel season for military personnel.
“What a lot of people aren’t aware of is that there a lot of moving costs that aren’t reimbursed,” Meagan says. “We’re here to try and help supplement that.”
