College Spark Foundation honors education advocate with fund for low-income families

When Christie Querna completed her work on the Spokane School Board and the College Spark Foundation Board, she did not retire her passion for education. During her tenure on the Innovia Foundation Board of Directors, Innovia Foundation began work on an initiative in Spokane Public Schools to improve graduation rates.  In 2014, when Christie completed her term with the College Spark Foundation, that Board honored her by establishing the Querna Fund for Educational Attainment at Innovia Foundation.

Christie’s fund will support charitable projects that improve the health and wellbeing of low-income students and families. “I am grateful to College Spark and thrilled that Innovia Foundation can help by providing this funding for programs that support collaborative efforts within the Spokane community,” Christie said. “Increasing the success of low-income students within and beyond public K-12 education can provide transformative results for the students, their families and our community.”
