As the first organization in the Spokane region dedicated to serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence from the Latinx communities, Mujeres in Action (MiA) has undertaken a challenging mission of delivering culturally responsive services to local survivors.
Since MiA’s launch in 2018, under the guidance of Executive Director Hanncel Sanchez, the dedicated team of eight has tirelessly worked to provide comprehensive support, including transitional housing, case management and care coordination. A recent Innovia grant recipient, MiA is channeling resources into projects and solutions that uplift survivors for the long-term.
“Systemic issues need systemic solutions. We can’t be there for every survivor in court or in hospitals. But if we change policies and systems, then we can create access for all survivors. The whole community will benefit.”
Hanncel Sanchez, Executive Director of Mujeres in Action
