Entrepreneurship is vital to the economy of the Spokane region. It drives ideas and innovation, creates new jobs and services, and attracts investment into the community.
Spokane Area Business Foundation received a Community Strategies grant from Innovia Foundation for Greater Spokane Inc. Startup Spokane to help entrepreneurs get their business ideas off the ground and into the marketplace. The program, which connects entrepreneurs to the resources and support they need to start and grow businesses, will use the funds to expand its Rapid Commercialization Program.
“The purpose of this program is to improve the likelihood of success for startup companies, create more living wage jobs and enhance the economic vitality of the region,” said Megan Hulsey, program manager for the Startup Spokane program.
Through the Rapid Commercialization Program, entrepreneurs who have an idea for a company receive two weeks of intensive business startup coaching. The program helps participants refine their ideas, research market viability, improve their business plans and identify next steps for launching their businesses.
“The Rapid Commercialization Program helps create new jobs, promotes self-sufficiency and provides a path for displaced workers and opportunities for innovators in all fields,” Hulsey said.
