Time and time again, our region has proved that when tragedy strikes, we are ready and willing to support our neighbors. That’s why when a catastrophic fire engulfed the school building in the small town of Almira, Washington, leaving nearly 140 students from kindergarten through eighth grade without a place to learn, our community answered the call.
Ford Motor Company Fund has generously awarded a grant of $25,000 to Innovia Foundation to support the communities of Malden and Pine City, Washington, as residents there rebuild and recover from wildfire that devastated the Pine Creek region of Whitman County in September 2020.
“Our whole community depends on our rural fire district,” says retired military nurse and Idaho resident, Barbara-Lee Jordan.
Malden and Pine City, Washington are the VanDyke family’s heritage home. The cultivated fields of this sprawling fertile land have been the livelihood and cherished home of generations of this family as well as many others in this beautiful area.
